00:00:00hello everyone welcome to workshop for v0 and snowflake integration so this one is a new york
00:00:12city edition we did the same in in london two weeks ago so this session is for snowflake
00:00:23enterprise customers and v0 enterprise customers so you need to have those two integrations in order
00:00:31to use this this feature so let me introduce myself first my name is dom i joined Vercel four
00:00:39and a half years ago as an engineer today i'm a forward deployed engineer helping the the biggest
00:00:47versatile enterprise customer customers adopt various frameworks ai workloads agents and
00:00:57in general help adopt the platform jordan yeah hi my name is jordan i am from snowflake i've been
00:01:05there for two years i'm a staff software engineer and i worked on the snowflake side of this integration
00:01:12cool so uh with this out uh let me actually let's draw a slide oh yeah so essentially this uh the
00:01:23the integration here is you build your apps in Vercel's v0 tool so that's a agentic coding tool by Vero
00:01:30by Vercel so it's got world-class developer experience that's pretty good next.js you're going to deploy
00:01:37this app to snowflake once it's deployed to snowflake it's running entirely within your snowflake account
00:01:41so it's going to be deployed with a snowflake role and uh it's going to use like our back by snowflake
00:01:47whatever single sign on if you have and uh yeah everything you get from snowflake and it's completely
00:01:53separate so securely running within your account the idea is that you have both words worlds so you have
00:02:01dx from Vercel and uh all the enterprise data and compliance are back from snowflake
00:02:10just to uh disclaimer so this session normally workshops are hands-on uh exercises you can do
00:02:17however like i said on the beginning you need to be an enterprise customers all on both sides so we're
00:02:22going to show you a demo actually a few demos then we're going to move to interactive session to ask you
00:02:29the audience for showing you what we can build v0 with with snowflake example data set and then we're going to
00:02:38move on to q a session uh here i want to show you how we at versell use this integration uh there are actually
00:02:48three pillars uh the standard ones is you can create interactive real-time dashboards uh it's used by gtm teams
00:02:58to show pipelines to show pipelines product usage and the velocity so um you don't have to know sql you can just
00:03:07prompt to to have your your dashboard that's like a standard uh cas um like usual usual way of using this
00:03:17integration uh uh we have also different teams are using uh product adoptions or uh some custom bi
00:03:31which is personalized apps we're going to show you later on and um my favorite one which i actually discovered uh about
00:03:39uh about my my team at versell you could create your own personalized dashboard of arr finance of your team
00:03:50um and drill down to the skew level or or service level like i didn't know how much you know revenue
00:03:57bring my team and whilst working on this workshop i actually discovered that it's pretty good
00:04:03uh right right so for snowflake if any snowflake customers here familiar with streamlet that's a lot
00:04:14of dashboards uh one benefit of this is you can kind of go beyond just dashboards so dashboards are
00:04:21great supported but also like internal tools i mean it's javascript is next js so you can kind of build
00:04:27whatever you can imagine so like internal tooling's great you could have tables you write to and those
00:04:31interact with other tables that uh that you have so you can add more to your data and even agentic apps
00:04:38so you can talk to your data build if you have more time to more sophisticated apps um like that so i've
00:04:44been using this internally for like getting a lot of log information i want to see maybe where did this log
00:04:50come from what are the users and then learn more about those users so i can kind of as i'm doing
00:04:55investigations kind of jump from one data set to another so very good for that sort of thing
00:05:01so this is the north star what you can do with this integration um
00:05:09i can describe that so um in order to use this integration uh you need your admin on your enterprise
00:05:16on snowflake set up enable the snowflake app runtime in settings
00:05:23um and then enable the versatile integration so those are two steps you need to do in order to use
00:05:29it on versatile side your admin needs to enable uh add snowflake to your v0 team like go to settings and
00:05:37integrations uh to illustrate uh in v0 you go to your account settings you add integrations
00:05:47add stoneflake account from your account identifier and then uh you connect to your uh data sets
00:05:58this is how it looks like for example i think this is the screenshot from versal
00:06:04and that's setup let's go now um
00:06:10so i'm going to build a i'm going to show you a demo from i'm going to start with the prompt and then
00:06:16that's the first part v0 going to build it uh with the dashboard using the the data and then the
00:06:25second part i'm going to deploy it to snowflake there is more into that i'm going to explain it
00:06:31whilst v0 will be cooking uh but just uh just a tip i'm going to say you that
00:06:39because of the best practices on next js server server server side rendering rendering strategies
00:06:47it's going to be running on the server and
00:06:51actually it's going to be running close to your your snowflake data for compliance i'm going to
00:06:55explain it later on all right so this is this is how simple it is to deploy um to snowflake
00:07:05infrastructure yes you heard that right uh so v0 will build this and then it will be deployed to and
00:07:15using snowflake compute next to snowflake data all right so if you are enterprise customer uh you can
00:07:24scan this qr code or if you want a demo like personalized demo from our our sales teams you can scan this qr code
00:07:32and uh you will be enabled this this feature right let's go to hands-on demo
00:07:47and of course i need to re-authenticate with octa because enterprise and we're going to be doing
00:07:54this a lot actually um right the the most important thing about this is is the keyword snow snowflake
00:08:05you're going to just prompt use snowflake and in order to speed up the demo i'm going to say use um
00:08:14crunch base uh data set and now i want to create like standard demo i want to create a dashboard
00:08:25uh
00:08:29showing uh about uh ipos over years actually whole um intelligence you know about ipos let's let's v0 to
00:08:39cook that
00:08:48all right that should actually be enough um
00:08:53now while it's v0 gonna cook uh first it's gonna check and query snowflake uh uh data set it should
00:09:03actually ask me for permission or ask me some follow-up question
00:09:09live snowflake go okay okay
00:09:18there might be more um there might be actually more um v0 should ask me to connect to my snowflake database
00:09:31and uh then it will start querying what it needs to build according to my uh my prompt so i'm connecting
00:09:53right now to to snowflake which is literally about this uh this integration
00:10:01and v0 will follow the best practice for uh perform web performance next js best practice
00:10:09uh rendering and caching strategies and then will build me
00:10:15custom personalized real-time dashboard now it will probably take like three minutes to to cook
00:10:24so during this time i want to show you
00:10:29uh talk about uh we uh we posted a blog post in november last year
00:10:36and we invited few enterprises to test this integration however i want to focus and tell you about
00:10:45why this integration is so cool so
00:10:51v0 actually is writing code to this access management layer connecting to your data
00:11:00and it's coding the next js application the whole thing using v0 however when you deploy it it's going
00:11:06to be deployed to snowflake infrastructure super close exactly this the same place and close to the data
00:11:14and the reason uh for it is because of the uh enterprise requirements compliance and security and speed
00:11:22so versal manage application on that authentication layer while snowflakes handles the compute and data
00:11:29now another thing i want to show you is that
00:11:36when you're going to create this application of course you're going to use it for yourself but you
00:11:41can send it to to your team members or in your organization now the application in order to see it you
00:11:49need to log in use you know authenticate yourself so the data you're going to see on this application
00:11:57are exactly the data you have the permission and rights to see so when you're going to send the link
00:12:02to this application this dashboard only people that are have rights to see they will see this data
00:12:11so just to speed up the time i actually um deployed this application so it's it took three minutes 43 seconds before
00:12:38i'm not sure why it's taking longer because obviously it's demo
00:12:44reinstalling dependencies
00:12:49so this is the um the application that that was um deployed exactly the same prompt um created IPO market
00:13:00dashboard so you can see that uh it's interactive
00:13:14all right it's finishing this up
00:13:27you see 50 000 ipos total rise capital average peak years you can see a nice dashboard generated now you can iterate on this
00:13:39and when you when you publish this
00:13:42you visit the the website you need to actually log in so this those those are those permission what i was talking about
00:13:50so in order to see i need to authenticate what what permissions i have on snowflake and it's the plate
00:13:57i'm not sure if you can see the url
00:14:00it's deployed to snowflake compute dot app
00:14:04and everyone else who will see it have different rights right
00:14:10uh right
00:14:16now that was the the basic happy path jordan will show you uh the
00:14:22much better version cooler version of what v0 is capable of
00:14:27all right i'm going to swap the

00:14:37do you have any questions by the way during uh you do
00:14:45wait hold on let's wait for the the mic
00:14:49if you have like a semantic models defined in something like dbt cloud is there a way to tie that
00:14:54in to this so that your queries that are being generated in the tables that are available for the models to
00:15:01design around our
00:15:05so semantic model to to design the queries sql queries right yeah so like you're using dbt
00:15:11to do that to manage the model itself
00:15:18uh oh sorry oh there's a question again yeah if we're using something like dbt
00:15:25for the for the different layers of your yeah say you've got a medallion architecture and snowflake
00:15:30but if you've got a dbt kind of semantic layer and say you're using something like dbt cloud to manage
00:15:34that is there a way to tie that into this yes you can prompt it out i think you can influence
00:15:40like steer because it's all uh llm driven um okay there are like multiple layers like there's a v0
00:15:46layer and then on the snowflake side there is a layer right so if you want to optimize
00:15:55oh there's many ways to do that actually yeah from prompt from evals like if you're going to production
00:16:02so this is like vibe coded uh like very quick from prompt to idea you have already what what you want
00:16:08right is that answer your question i was just curious if there was any kind of data integration
00:16:13there is there is there is actually native one as well yeah there are
00:16:23yeah you can see the in the observability everything what's happening on the app
00:16:27and on the snowflake side and on the versal side yeah
00:16:33okay so now uh for this demo so i'm sure here's just like a raw look at some of the data i'm going to be
00:16:41using here so this is some power plant data so this is a typical situation you run a query like this
00:16:48a lot of information longitude latitude different where these different power plants are you know hard
00:16:55to understand so first i've created this app already saved time kind of went through the the same steps
00:17:01as what we just saw you pick an account in this case i've got multiple snowflake accounts so for some
00:17:07bigger customers they can have many accounts and they can per chat decide which one you want to use
00:17:13but then going through here let's see if i want uh to make this a little bit more interesting because
00:17:20right now it's it's uh it's got some summaries it has the table but if i want to say let's add a globe
00:17:30for visualization
00:17:42and since we're using javascript next js it should be able to find some appropriate libraries for this
00:17:50render a globe just find out figure out look at the existing tables and
00:17:55that we see here get the longitude latitude and uh and render something more interesting
00:18:02so just just a prerequisite can we explain the data set first
00:18:07uh yeah so yeah we've got um during power plants across the us and so we've got this data source here so
00:18:15we've got like a like shared you can get from snowflake marketplace you can you can like purchase data
00:18:20sets and so we'll have access to this will be updated um like periodically so then you can explore
00:18:29here and see i think this one is um free free data set right yeah yeah this is a free data set yeah so
00:18:37you can yeah purchase where there's like certain free data sets available so this is a good you can
00:18:41with these data sets you can like mix these in with your own data and you get like more detailed insights
00:18:49they also work really well for demos
00:18:55okay
00:18:59looks like it looks like it worked
00:19:04right so in order to um like you can you can show your board of the your your execs or your customers
00:19:13traditional dashboards however with this integration and v0 you can create interactive real-time
00:19:23uh visualizations for your dashboard for your data set
00:19:29uh like that for example
00:19:34right uh now we have interactive part so uh we have this free data set
00:19:41uh from the marketplace and we can go with the audience and if you want to try any of your
00:19:46prompts like to visualize then we can do this session or we can go directly to q a if you have any questions
00:19:59uh anyone got questions or want to send a prompt for us to run a prompt from a capability standpoint
00:20:09uh are you able to do things like run regression models and build pipelines within this or is it
00:20:14more or less like vibe code as is exploratory visualization stuff
00:20:20uh i can take this one if you want yeah uh yeah this is pure vibe coding for non-technical people
00:20:28however uh i like your question it's cool uh i would
00:20:35is there a integration
00:20:44okay
00:20:47so normally v0 have github integration and you can tap it into normal cicd asdl uh life cycle
00:20:56here you can download the code so so this is a prototype like it took us uh okay for us both jordan on
00:21:05stage it's probably like already one hour like each each minute but probably it it cooked yeah one minute
00:21:1153 seconds like that was super quick vibe coded and it's better than those typical reports dashboards
00:21:19you have right i would download that code and then created evals you know model behind this
00:21:33look it's just v zero model behind this there there is no like ai app you cannot chat with it
00:21:39like there was a slide with the north star you have traditional bi this you have interactive parts
00:21:46customized personalized this and then you had the third one which we decided that there will be no
00:21:51time to actually show demo but you can ask v0 like hey can you add chatting uh chat with my data
00:21:59capability and v0 will perfectly deliver that and then i would do evals pipelines to improve uh the you
00:22:08know uh you don't want a hallucination in that but that that's a advanced use case thank you for your
00:22:14question really cool
00:22:19how do you want to know if you want to call it a day
00:22:30when you deploy this how does the oort work
00:22:35oh that's a great question
00:22:38yes once it's deployed it's in your snowflake account so i don't know if you're
00:22:41familiar with snowflake typically like yeah so you'll um like if you but however you your authentication for
00:22:48snowflake account works like you'll see here when you go into visit app um this will prompt you so
00:22:54however you have if you have like in this case i've got um single sign-on set up so this is just
00:22:59logging me into my snowflake account so i have to username snowflake username snowflake password or like
00:23:04single sign-on and then the rest this is all now in snowflake so once it's in snowflake there's no
00:23:10connection with bursell anymore so it's not like you're logging into
00:23:13per cell it's entirely just in your snowflake account at that point
00:23:19if it's like a team of business users non-developers if it's to a team of business users non-developers they
00:23:26would have to be on boarded i think snowflake yeah they would have to be on snowflake i mean
00:23:32snowflake is working on ways to expose these apps to like users that don't have snowflake accounts so that
00:23:39that sort of thing there's some support for it now but the more of that is coming because that's
00:23:42definitely a need for with apps on snowflake in general i i think you can probably log in because
00:23:50maybe not stuff like well you can and you have different roles on snowflake account and you can
00:23:56select which roles on v0 to use for the application in a settings in a connection connecting the uh those two
00:24:05applications so so it's super important that the end user you're using they only see the data they have
00:24:12right to see like that problem is solved right and you can vibe code your dashboards with with that in
00:24:20mind which was pretty cool in my opinion oh there you go so you have those roles and then you can copy
00:24:29those roles or literally say v0 please use those roles only for those this application thank you for your
00:24:36question yeah i was gonna ask you uh sorry oh yeah well watch out it's your account man that's he's
00:24:48literally taking pictures oh yeah that's it that was good ones yeah i was gonna ask you a question if
00:25:00you wanted to uh create components like this and then drop it into a next js app deployed on versell
00:25:09so basically have uh components that query snowflake data is that possible or not really with this setup
00:25:19yes it's possible okay okay so um actually um so i'm actually hands up who use uh v0 can i ask the
00:25:31question audience so who who use v0 all right yeah who use uh snowflake or who's the customer of snowflake
00:25:41more customers more snowflake customers okay cool uh that's different than london uh so to answer your
00:25:48question here are your components like this like chat cn this is plants explorer oh okay yeah where's the globe um
00:25:59um it's probably somewhere here uh but app maybe
00:26:08oh my god how's this apis maybe it's in one of the pages uh one of those other it's like nested within
00:26:13one of those components
00:26:18did it just vibe code the whole globe oh yeah there you go um yeah so it's a 167 lines of ui components so
00:26:27with that you have this code right you can you can download it you can iterate of it just let you
00:26:34know it was zero shot right uh you can see that it's uh okay first version was the initial prompt and then
00:26:44at the globe was another prompt so version two because v0 name is v1 v2 etc is that answer your question

00:27:04you can see the oh by the way you are probably going to see the whole database you have access
00:27:08to this is a test account yeah okay cool i think it's fine so you so you can actually explore your
00:27:15database within v0 which means you can also chat with your with your database so you don't need to
00:27:21deploy any app you don't need to uh show any dashboards uh you can literally chat with your data
00:27:29you probably need to connect again maybe i think this might just be like a lot of tables in this
00:27:34account oh okay yeah you probably have and you can also run sql query uh directly from uh v0 so there
00:27:45there are there will be more capabilities uh as well in the future but me personally i believe that
00:27:51you can vibe code really cool interactive dashboards which is a kicker
00:27:58right
