00:26:01to do more than probably about three weeks, three to four.
00:26:05I mean, in order to be able to come out here,

00:26:09just so that I could get out here.

00:26:15It's like a totally different world.
00:26:16It's not like you spend lots of time in studio,
00:26:18but it's like really curious to me
00:26:19because it's like same, same but different.
00:26:21You tour, you do lots of studio time
00:26:23and we do that thing that's just different.
00:26:25The touring thing is relatively new and rare.
00:26:28What it would be like would be if you only wrote music
00:26:31but never got to play it live
00:26:33and you had to write three new songs
00:26:36and publish them a week.
00:26:37And they couldn't afford, they weren't like album worthy.
00:26:39They weren't going to be like mass events,
00:26:41but you had to put out three a week.
00:26:42That would be what it would be like.
00:26:44And it's just so strange that, you know,
00:26:47people will go and see The Killers or yourself
00:26:48and they want to hear The Big Heads.
00:26:50That's, to hear it again, that's almost better.
00:26:53I want to hear the old stuff more
00:26:54than I want to hear the new stuff.
00:26:55But if I say the same story on a different podcast,
00:26:59that's frustrating.

00:27:22that guides you in life?
00:27:24I'm not sure if you've had one for 20 years
00:27:26or 10 years or 10 months.
00:27:28- I've always been really bad with long-term goals.
00:27:29At least in my experience, when things go really well,
00:27:32or if you're a hard worker, if you're an outlier,
00:27:34which you are, because you've come to see me
00:27:35on a fucking Wednesday evening.
00:27:37It's not a normal thing to do.
00:27:38The results that you get will be so unpredictable
00:27:41that you're not going to be able to work out
00:27:42what the optionality will open up for you in future.
00:27:44In any case, I had no idea.
00:27:45If you would say 10 years ago, what you're going to do?
00:27:47Like live in America, do a podcast, like do tour live,
00:27:51booked it, like none of those things were even on the table.
00:27:54So shorter sprints for me and principles are a little better,
00:27:58but even those are relatively loose.
00:28:01I like learning.
00:28:01I'm curious about a lot of different things.
00:28:04I've managed to find a way to basically monetize
00:28:06asking interesting people questions that I care about.
00:28:10But for me, all I've done is just,
00:28:11it's curiosity is the closest thing I can give you.
00:28:13Just follow my curiosity, what am I interested in?

00:28:59There is not much room for guys
00:29:00to connect with their emotions.
00:29:02I think that there is a fucking awesome revolution
00:29:05sitting below whatever that surface thing
00:29:08happening on the internet is.
00:29:10I get the sense that most of the guys
00:29:12who are in the room tonight are a part of the deeper thoughts
00:29:17than the shallow ones.
00:29:19The problem is that the world doesn't really reward you
00:29:22for connecting with your emotions.
00:29:24You can't flex it anywhere.
00:29:27And in order for you to go for where you are now,
00:29:29which is probably a super competent, active, high agency,
00:29:33self-determining person, to embrace your feelings,
00:29:37what is an evolution to a better version of you
00:29:41feels like a devolution back to the version of you
00:29:45that you used to be, where you were taken advantage of
00:29:48by your emotions, then you learn to suppress them.
00:29:51Work hard, push through, don't listen to it.
00:29:54Chock a welling.
00:29:55See the cockiness.
00:29:57And then you have to try and undo all of that.
00:30:02Keep the hard work a bit and feel the feeling bit.
00:30:07Cracking the fucking shell of whatever it is
00:30:12that most guys have got going on.
00:30:14Like, competent enough to get shit done,
00:30:16but deep enough to realize that they want to feel it.
00:30:19That requires, it'd be like trying to do surgery on yourself.
00:30:25It's probably a bad idea if you get an expert in.
00:30:28So, I would say do any tense retreat
00:30:33after you've done a little bit of self work.
00:30:36You've probably done breathwork or meditation.
00:30:38You've done the level zero stuff.
00:30:40I wouldn't jump to ayahuasca.
00:30:43I don't think that's how you go and do it.
