Save the energy you'd spend building a billing system yourself and invest it back into product quality.

Here’s a tip for increasing conversion rates: create a field like X-API-Promotion in your API response headers and subtly mention the benefits of a paid plan. It’s an effective way to speak directly to the developer checking the logs. You should also pay attention to error messages. Instead of a simple error code, include a link to documentation containing the solution within the JSON response.
