00:00:05this. Because in 2026, in the coming years, almost everything is working against you. The field is
00:00:11more competitive than ever, job openings are getting harder to land. And on top of that,
00:00:16there's this constant fear of being replaced by AI. And if I'm being honest, web development is
00:00:22not the same safe career it used to be a few years ago. So in this video, I want to make sure you
00:00:28don't end up unemployed if you're currently in this field. Right now, you have two realistic options.
00:00:33Either you continue pursuing web development, but with a completely different approach. Or you
00:00:38consider moving into a different tech role that might be better. And by the way, I have created a

00:00:54channel. So continuing to the video, I'm going to walk you through both options, and you can decide
00:01:00what actually makes sense for you. Let's start with the first option, continuing with web development,
00:01:06but doing it differently. Because the way most people are approaching it right now,
00:01:10it simply doesn't work anymore. Think about it, everyone today know how to build website
00:01:16using frameworks. Everyone is building the same kinds of projects, following the same tutorials,
00:01:22and now AI can generate those same projects in minutes. So it's not surprising that the
00:01:27market feels crowded and it's getting harder to stand out. You simply cannot expect different
00:01:32results by doing the exact same thing as 90% of developers. So here's what you need to do.
00:01:38The first step is building strong foundations, if you haven't already. And this is non-negotiable.
00:01:44Because today, a big part of your job is shifting from writing code to reviewing and understanding
00:01:50AI-generated code. And you simply cannot do that without having solid fundamentals.
00:01:55Once your basics are strong, the next step is to go beyond just writing code. This is where most
00:02:01developers stop, and this is exactly where you need to go deeper. You should now go one step ahead from
00:02:07other web developers by focusing on things like system design, architecture, application security,
00:02:13cloud platforms, debugging, and most importantly, learning how to work with AI effectively. These
00:02:19are the stuff that 90% of junior web developers don't know, and it's the reason why most of them
00:02:24can't stand out. Let's go through these briefly, starting with system design and architecture.
00:02:30Imagine your app works fine for 100 users, but what happens at 10,000 or even 100,000?
00:02:36Will it slow down or crash? System design is all about planning for that,
00:02:40deciding how to scale your application, whether to use caching or add queues for heavy workloads.
00:02:46AI can generate code, but it doesn't truly understand your system, that responsibility
00:02:52is still yours. Next is application security. When you're working with user data, authentication,
00:02:58and payments, even small mistakes can cause serious issues. So understanding common web
00:03:04vulnerabilities and how to prevent against them will not only make you stand out, but also make
00:03:09you a better developer. And you will be surprised to know that majority of junior developers don't
00:03:14care about this stuff and just focus on coding and handing it over. Then comes cloud platforms like
00:03:19AWS or GCP. Today, most apps run on the cloud, so just knowing how to deploy them, connect cloud
00:03:26services, and keep them running will set you apart from your competitors. Next is debugging. One of
00:03:32the most valuable skills you can have, because no matter how good AI gets, things will break.
00:03:38In that case, having the ability to read, understand, and fix the issues will actually
00:03:43make you a valuable developer. And finally, learning how to work with AI. This includes
00:03:48prompt engineering, knowing how to guide AI and refine its output. When used properly,
00:03:54it can massively speed up your workflow and help you in decision making. So you might be thinking,
00:03:59I'm just a web developer, do I really have to know these stuff? The answer is yes. Because you are
00:04:04living in 2026, just knowing how to use React isn't enough. There is free knowledge in the internet,
00:04:10and to stand out from others, you need to know more. That's what most companies expect now.
00:04:15I know this is a lot. And if this path doesn't excite you, forcing yourself into it might not
00:04:20be the best decision. In that case, the second option is to explore alternative tech roles.
00:04:26There are common transitions like design, testing, DevOps, or mobile development. But if I'm being
00:04:32honest, most of these fields are also becoming competitive. Because over the last few years,
00:04:37a huge number of people entered tech. So no matter where you go, you will face competition. The goal
00:04:43is not to escape competition, but to position yourself better whether you are in web development
00:04:48or any other field. But with that said, I did some research to find some tech roles that do
00:04:53have strong potential going forward. So here's how the list goes. First is AI or machine learning
00:04:59engineering, the most obvious one. This role is about understanding AI models, training them and
00:05:05how to integrate into real systems. If you are intelligent and love maths and statistics, this
00:05:10can be a possible field for you. Next is cybersecurity, personally one of my favorites. If you enjoy
00:05:17analyzing systems, finding weaknesses, and thinking like an attacker, this could be a great fit. Then
00:05:23there's cloud engineering. This focuses on infrastructure, deploying systems, managing
00:05:28performance, and making sure everything runs smoothly on cloud. Another strong option is working
00:05:34with data, either as a data engineer or data scientist. Companies generate massive amounts
00:05:39of data, but without the right people, that data has no value. This field is all about turning data
00:05:45into insights and decisions. And one more path you can consider is moving into product or project
00:05:51management. These roles are a bit different from the others because they are not purely technical.
00:05:56Product management is more about deciding what to build and why, while project management is more
00:06:02about making sure things are delivered on time, coordinating teams, and managing workflows. If you
00:06:07want to stay in tech without being in a technical side, these are good options. These were some fields
00:06:13which is in high demand and currently doesn't have much competition. But don't choose any of these
00:06:18just because they sound good or pay well, and every field will have competition. The real goal is to
00:06:23choose something that fits your strengths and interests and then go deeper than most people
00:06:27are willing to. That's how you actually become valuable and employable. And that's it! Just a
00:06:33practical suggestion for anyone in web development who's been having second thoughts about their
