00:00:00a couple of hours ago xai launched grogbot and i don't know how important that will be
00:00:07how many people will use it right now it's only available in the more expensive plans
00:00:12and by the way my colleague manual created a more in-depth overview video showing what exactly that
00:00:18is but i want to talk about something which i find interesting about the pure existence
00:00:24of this grogbot thing because of course we got new ai products launching every day and we got the
00:00:31entire reign of ai influencers who then start posting about the product at the exact same moment
00:00:39and that can all be quite annoying or confusing but here's something that i find interesting about
00:00:46this grogbot thing for one i only play around with it a bit i created a bunch of bots had them do stuff
00:00:54but for one what i really find interesting is that xai got the the usability i would say quite right
00:01:03depending on who the target audience is because of course ai agents are everywhere you can use tools
00:01:09like cloud code or as i like it pi for coding or codex you can use the chat gpt desktop app or the
00:01:18cloud offerings you can spin up agents everywhere you can give them skills and you can have them
00:01:23do a bunch of stuff and grogbot is not that different the most important difference probably is that
00:01:30there you really do build different bots though every bot is really just like an agent with a system
00:01:37prompt and you have your chats with those bots and they can also collaborate and hand tasks off to
00:01:43each other so that one bot can use a research bot for doing something and then maybe use a report bot for
00:01:50creating a report and stuff like that so what what is interesting here is not really that you can do
00:01:56something with grogbot that wouldn't be doable with for example clot code you can do the same things in
00:02:02the end with it too but that they clearly have a different form factor here if you want to call it like
00:02:10this that's closer to open claw i guess but with those different bots so it's not just one open claw instance
00:02:19which you run on one of your computers but you got those different bots they all operate on a shared
00:02:24computer which is not your computer but a computer provided by xai and that's of course also a difference
00:02:30compared to open claw you don't need to spin up your own virtual machine here you you get one out of the box
00:02:36it is pretty expensive though as mentioned it's it's only in the higher tier subscriptions but they
00:02:41clearly have a different very approachable form factor here and what i find interesting is that
00:02:47it's x ai that's launching something like this because it was open ai that in the end acquired peter
00:02:56steinberger the creator of open claw at the beginning of this year i personally would have expected
00:03:03that it will be open ai that turn chat gpt into more of an personal assistant like experience and to
00:03:13some degree they did that but to some degree they also didn't i would say i mean if you take a look
00:03:20at the chat gpt desktop app for example and it's pretty similar for the mobile app not only is codex now
00:03:27integrated here which can be a bit confusing you also have the chat and the work section and it's also
00:03:32maybe not super clear what's what but on first sight it's at least to me not super obvious how i would
00:03:40use this as my general personal assistant of course i can ask it something here of course i can connect
00:03:45my emails i can give it skills i can do all of that but it still feels like a bunch of individual chat
00:03:52sessions where i start a new chat session for every new problem i face whereas with grogbot it feels more
00:03:59like i have my own army of ai agents which i can use whenever i want them to do something it's
00:04:07it's simply a different mental model and i find it quite confusing or interesting i should say that
00:04:14it's x ai that are launching something like this and not open ai now however and that is also interesting
00:04:22i'm not sure what the target audience of grogbot is because from the looks of it the way it works it
00:04:29feels it's targeting normal people people that are not deep into the entire ai agent world people that
00:04:38don't necessarily have five instances of clawed code running people that don't necessarily write their own
00:04:46skills or orchestrate their own project setups with nested skill folders and stuff like that
00:04:53that is clearly not the target audience here it could be normal consumers but then again right now you need
00:05:00the more expensive plans here to actually use it you're not using that for ten dollars a month right you
00:05:06need the expensive ones so definitely not the normal people now if we look at companies i'm not sure if
00:05:16companies will use that maybe small businesses maybe self-employed individual entrepreneurs maybe i don't
00:05:23know but bigger companies they will probably stick to cloud co-work or chat gpt and use that to work
00:05:30on individual projects i think there's a vision of having those independent bots and agents that can
00:05:38tackle different tasks and work on them sounds right when you hear it and maybe it is the future i don't
00:05:45know that but at least right now for many companies and people it's not the present i feel like
00:05:53and that is the weird thing about grogbot from the looks of it from playing around with it
00:05:58to me it feels like it gets many things just right but then i wonder who this is built for
00:06:06and maybe you can help me out here because i'm not sure but i also wonder why why open ai didn't build
00:06:15something like this either because they also are not sure if anybody is wanting this or because they
00:06:24weren't able to or didn't think of that i don't know but yeah we'll see where this goes maybe it'll
00:06:30also get more affordable but still most people don't even pay the 20 bucks per month for chat gpt so i
00:06:36don't see people paying for that um but yeah maybe it also is the way to go and i'm just missing something
