00:00:00What are some biohacks or some interventions that you use or believe in, but you don't have any data to support?
00:00:09What are some of the things that you're like, I fucking love this and I know that it works for me?
00:00:13The doctor in the corner is shaking her head.
00:00:15We'll give it to the fucking bro scientists.
00:00:17Let's go bro science.
00:00:19Biocharger.
00:00:19Have you ever seen this?
00:00:20Oh my God, I have one.
00:00:21Borrowed one.
00:00:22Wait, oh, I have one.
00:00:23The doctor backs me up.
00:00:24Wait, no, I don't.
00:00:25I don't.
00:00:26I don't.
00:00:27I don't.
00:00:28Don't broke me into your bullshit.
00:00:30Facebook marketplace it.
00:00:32No.
00:00:32Okay.
00:00:33So I saved a patient's life and she said, pick any piece of equipment that you want.
00:00:39And she keeps talking about this biocharger.
00:00:41She's like, my sex drive is up.
00:00:44It's like the best thing ever.
00:00:45I'm like, okay, well, I already have a sauna.
00:00:47I already have a cold plunge.
00:00:49What about the biocharger?
00:00:50Yeah.
00:00:50But so I got a, I have a biocharger.
00:00:53How did you find it?
00:00:54Great.
00:00:54My husband, he's like, I feel this.
00:00:56I mean, who knows?
00:00:57But it does, it does red light.
00:00:58But does it work?
00:00:59It's like, I don't know if this works.
00:01:01Radio frequencies based on a Tesla coil surrounded by 12 noble gases in tubes.
00:01:05And there's zero clinical data, but.
00:01:07And.
00:01:07You can hold a cool fucking lightsaber in there.
00:01:10What did you think of it when you used it?
00:01:12I think a parasite recipe, like an insomnia recipe.
00:01:14And like all that stuff is this, like a raisin bran.
00:01:15Do you think it works?
00:01:16Okay.
00:01:16The raisin bran recipe works.
00:01:18What is that?
00:01:18For what?
00:01:19For constipation.
00:01:21If, if you're constipated, been traveling, whatever, you sit in front of the raisin bran
00:01:25recipe which lasts 12 minutes and you literally have like a turtle head pumping out.
00:01:28I want to hear, I want to hear most serious experiences.
00:01:30Chris, what?
00:01:31I got, I got, I went, I went, I was like, what is it?
00:01:33I went, I went to Tony Robbins' house.
00:01:35He said, he's got one in every room in his house.
00:01:37Apparently, I don't know why.
00:01:38And we, I got lent one for a month or so.
00:01:43I noticed no difference for the people that don't know.
00:01:45Did you use it?
00:01:46Wait, did you use it though?
00:01:47Consistently, semi-consistently.
00:01:48He didn't use it.
00:01:49You didn't use it.
00:01:49But you can't, like you put your phone near it and your phone starts fucking glitching
00:01:52out like a Russian hat.
00:01:53Wait, but did you use it?
00:01:54How often did you use it?
00:01:55I don't know.
00:01:56Oh, he didn't use it.
00:01:57If I'm supposed to use it.
00:01:58Okay, wait, I have two other, I have two things.
00:02:01Okay, and then I've got one more.
00:02:02Oh, you've got millions.
00:02:03You might know more about this machine.
00:02:07So there's something, and you probably know way more about this than I do, but I got, lent
00:02:12a windback machine.
00:02:13Have you ever seen that?
00:02:14It's like some tech car therapy.
00:02:15Do you know what that is?
00:02:16I don't know what both of those words even mean.
00:02:18Exciting.
00:02:18I don't know.
00:02:19And it's, so you don't know what it is.
00:02:20I don't know what it is either.
00:02:21Well, what is it?
00:02:22Well, it seems like it has some, it's like not quite EMS, but it has some high radio frequency.
00:02:30Electrical muscle stimulation.
00:02:31It is, but it's not exactly.
00:02:32And it's called tech car therapy.
00:02:34And what do you do?
00:02:35There's patches?
00:02:36So there's patches, but I've been using it for my hamstring.
00:02:39And it seems to-
00:02:39Does it have like a controller that's producing-
00:02:41It does.
00:02:42It has this, yes.
00:02:43And I was hoping that you would tell me exactly how it works, but it seems to do tissue healing.
00:02:49I haven't seen good US data on it.
00:02:51I think that feeling better has to work somehow, and it's not a stim device.
00:02:56Yeah.
00:02:57Some kind of tech car therapy.
00:02:58I do not know if someone could Google it and see exactly what frequency.
00:03:03I'll send, I'll send again.
00:03:05Jared can lock it up.
00:03:05What's it called, EMS?
00:03:06It's called, no, it's called a windback.
00:03:08Windback?
00:03:09Wind, yeah.
00:03:10Windback.
00:03:10Pull it up and see what they're, what they're actually saying that it does.
00:03:13I might have seen something like it before.
00:03:17And it localizes to where the pain is, which is really weird.
00:03:20Yeah.
00:03:20The Roxiva lamp.
00:03:21Have you seen this one?
00:03:22No.
00:03:22Okay.
00:03:23So it's a sound lounge that vibrates for like a vibroacoustic bed that you lay on.
00:03:26That sounds cool.
00:03:27And then it's a lamp and the lamp has headphones.
00:03:31So it's like an AV cable.
00:03:32One side is going into the vibroacoustic bed.
00:03:34The other side is going to the headphones.
00:03:35And then there's like a hundred different sessions ranging from five minutes to 60 minutes
00:03:40that are like blast off to the moon psychedelic, like full on mushroom LSD like trip, depending
00:03:47on what you choose with zero biological payback.
00:03:51As far as you actually needing to swallow a substance or put anything under your tongue,
00:03:55you lay there, you put on the headphones, you flip it on, you close your eyes, and it
00:03:59whisks you off to another plant.
00:04:01And it works.
00:04:01What is it called?
00:04:02Wait, what is it called?
00:04:03So it's like, if we were to talk about the proposed neural benefit, it would be based on
00:04:09what's called light sound entrainment, meaning shifting you into different brainwaves based
00:04:13on the light and the sound.
00:04:14It's called a Roxiva.
00:04:15Wow.
00:04:16It's similar to a shift wave?
00:04:17There is a session on there.
00:04:18It is like a shift wave, but imagine if the shift wave didn't just have sound, because
00:04:23the shift wave is super cool for people listening or watching.
00:04:26It vibrates pretty powerfully.
00:04:27It doesn't just vibrate.
00:04:28It fucking shakes the roof.
00:04:30It's lined with nodes.
00:04:32I've got one at the house.
00:04:32And the cool part is it will guide you through breath work sessions.
00:04:36And specifically, like the breath holds, you can go like 25% longer just based on the distraction
00:04:42of the vibrating chair.
00:04:44So, and you're wearing a fingertip monitor for HRV and your HRV climbs to the roof while
00:04:51you're doing this thing.
00:04:52Imagine that plus flickering light.
00:04:55That's also designed to just like whisk you off into a completely different state.
00:04:59There's a session called Rebirth and they actually recorded like whooshing sounds in
00:05:05mom's womb and the fetal heart beats and you, you put on the headphones, you close your eyes,
00:05:12you lay into this thing and it feels like you're just like primally being whisked back into
00:05:16this like fetal state.
00:05:18And you lay there for 45 minutes and sometimes you'll fall asleep.
00:05:21You're in and out of consciousness.
00:05:22And then the last five minutes you get burst and the music crescendos and all of a sudden
00:05:29like everything starts beating and the lights get brighter and your heart rate speeds up
00:05:34and you get this dump of adrenaline and then you're just like out and then everything goes
00:05:39dark and you sit up from it and you just feel like you could go conquer the world.
00:05:442 p.m.
00:05:44in the afternoon.
00:05:45That's fucking cool.
00:05:46Wow.
00:05:46I was so into that story.
00:05:46It's pretty cool.
00:05:47That's fucking cool.
00:05:48Does it work?
00:05:49If you use, I mean.
00:05:50I've used the, I've used the shift wave.
00:05:51The shift wave's not as comprehensive as that.
00:05:54There was an interesting thing around the sounds from mother's womb.
00:05:58I had Stephen Porges on, the polyvagal theory guy.
00:06:01Oh, very interesting.
00:06:02And he came up with the safe and sound protocol, SSP.
00:06:05You familiar with that?
00:06:06So this is a mode of nervous system re-entrainment.
00:06:13And it's a combination of kind of meditation with, you actually have a facilitator who is
00:06:19halfway between mantra, meditation, psychotherapy, and like sound wave work, I guess, and breath
00:06:31work.
00:06:31And one of the things that he taught me, which is fucking fascinating, the soft, gentle,
00:06:37reassuring sounds that mothers give to their kids is the frequency in which the safe and
00:06:42sound protocol works as well.
00:06:43One of the weird things is that's the-
00:06:45You mean the same like sound frequency?
00:06:47Yes.
00:06:47Like the tone?
00:06:48Yes.
00:06:48So interesting.
00:06:49It's the same for dogs and it's the same for horses.
00:06:52And that's the reason that equine therapy and that humans and horses are able to connect
00:06:56as well.
00:06:56And that humans and dogs are able to connect as well.
00:06:58Oh, that's fascinating.
00:06:59Because the sound frequency that mothers and kids have in all of those species are within
00:07:06the same band.
00:07:07Isn't that fucking cool?
00:07:07What if your mom has a really low voice?
00:07:11She's probably jacked, so it's fine.
00:07:13It doesn't matter at all.
00:07:14What else have I been using that's been interesting?
00:07:17Hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
00:07:18I mean, I know that this is not super like experimental and it's probably pretty well-
00:07:22Not sexy at all.
00:07:23It's that hard shell at what?
00:07:25Like 2.2 Atta is so good.
00:07:29I don't know what is happening to make me feel the way that I do after I come out of a hyperbaric
00:07:33therapy, but it is 20 minutes on, 5 minutes off, 100% oxygen on the mask, normal oxygen
00:07:39outside of that, 90 minute session down at depth, 2.2, is better than any coffee, better
00:07:45than any cold plunge, better than anything.
00:07:48There's a little bit of parasympathetic activation too, just from the whole sensory depth nature
00:07:52of it.
00:07:53I did one at Brigham's yesterday and like my tongue lagging out of the corner of my mouth.
00:07:56But it's just a standard hyperbaric chamber that they've been using in operators forever.
00:08:01Michael Jackson was using one in like the 90s.
00:08:03Have you guys used the hydrogen bath stuff?
00:08:06I have to use that, yeah.
00:08:07I have a hydrogen bath in my garage.
00:08:09I don't, and I think there is, I haven't looked it up.
00:08:12I just fucking have one.
00:08:13It's just transdermal absorption of hydrogen or inhalation of hydrogen.
00:08:18I just use it.
00:08:19You're just getting hundreds of times more hydrogen than a pill.
00:08:22It's so relaxing to me because it's a hot tub.
00:08:24You're seeing a hot tub that has hydrogen in it and you can probably talk.
00:08:28There's a placebo-controlled trial where you're actually in the hot tub and nobody tells you
00:08:31whether or not they put hydrogen in it.
00:08:32But the idea is that there is some transdermal absorption of hydrogen in a hydrogen-rich environment,
00:08:39either in the air or in the water, that's greater than what you would get from like a pill dropped in water.
00:08:45And hydrogen being a selective antioxidant means that for inflammation, for soreness, et cetera,
00:08:51you do feel pretty good afterwards.
00:08:53Yeah, but it's hard because a hot tub, you feel good too.
00:08:55I read books for my podcast and literally like my bookshelf and my books to read is in the garage.
00:09:01That's where my wife, Hemney, put the bathtub, in a hydrogen bath with a red light.
00:09:05And how long do you stay in?
00:09:06The red light is great.
00:09:07I lay out there and read books.
00:09:08How long do you stay in?
00:09:09About 40 minutes.
00:09:10Every day?
00:09:11How long do you stay in, Chris?
00:09:12Almost every day now.
00:09:13The hydrogen bath I was using really intermittently, that was when I was in Lumati.
00:09:20That's where I got my hydrogen concentrator was from them in San Diego.
00:09:25Have you seen Alex Tarnava's thing?
00:09:27He's the inhalation.
00:09:29Yeah, Brigham has one.
00:09:30That is, it's the only hydrogen inhalation machine that can go up to that high of a percentage
00:09:36that doesn't use a nasal cannula.
00:09:39So you get a pretty high concentration.
00:09:41That also doesn't risk fucking blowing up.
00:09:43Without risk of explosion.
00:09:43Yeah, without risk of explosion.
00:09:45You do not want to be fucking about with hydrogen, dude.
00:09:47But I mean, you put me in touch with Alex and his machine is fucking out of this world.
00:09:52I don't even know if they're publicly, if they're like widely available.
00:09:54I don't know if they're for sale or not, but it's called it.
00:09:57You've been working on it for a decade.
00:09:58What pushed me over the edge is there's a very trustworthy guy in the hydrogen research sector
00:10:05named Tyler LeBaron, who I think he founded the Hydrogen Research Foundation.
00:10:12I think that's what it's called.
00:10:13And he put his name behind this because he was so impressed with it compared to all these
00:10:18different machines.
00:10:19A lot of them coming out of Asia that have low concentration or you can't adjust the percentage
00:10:24or they use a nasal cannula instead of a mask.
00:10:27And so when I asked him about it, he was like, thumbs up.
00:10:29This is the best one in the market.
00:10:30What do you make of, because we've got hydrogen tablets, hydrogen flasks, water infusion flasks,
00:10:39inhalation, and now baths as well.
00:10:41What do you make of hydrogen, the research around it generally, and then what do you make
00:10:45of those different?
00:10:46I've used a test kit to test the bottle and the tablet and the bottle produces a higher
00:10:51concentration of hydrogen.
00:10:53It's like 8 to 10 ppm, but the bottles poop out after like 300 uses.
00:10:59So you're going to buy a bottle frequently.
00:11:00The pill is slightly lower.
00:11:02The transdermal absorption, there's not a lot of research on that.
00:11:06The inhalation is the highest concentration that you can infuse into your body as far as
00:11:10what they've actually looked at for hydrogen concentration.
00:11:14What's the proposed mechanism, benefits of breathing hydrogen, of putting more of it in
00:11:20your body?
00:11:20It's an antioxidant.
00:11:22So basically, it would quell inflammation.
00:11:25It would essentially, because it's a selective antioxidant, it can accept or donate electrons.
00:11:34So unlike, say, like a high-dose synthetic vitamin C or vitamin E or a non-sortical anti-inflammatory
00:11:43drug, it can actually accept or donate an electron.
00:11:48And so it would be something that would not, say, quell the hormetic response to exercise.
00:11:54Like after you do a hard exercise session, you're actually not supposed to take high-dose
00:11:58antioxidants.
00:11:59Same reason you shouldn't do a cold plunge.
00:12:01Well, the cold plunge, you have to drop the muscle temperature by about one degree Celsius,
00:12:05which takes at least 10 minutes at a pretty cold temperature.
00:12:09Like jumping in a quick cold plunge or taking a cold shower after a workout, that's not as
00:12:13big a problem.
00:12:13That's been overblown.
00:12:14It's been overblown because I don't know a lot of people who even have the time after
00:12:19a workout to get in a cold plunge for 10 to 20 minutes, which is where the desire.
00:12:25And that's where the research that you blunt the anabolic response actually happens.
00:12:29So if you're going to do a long cold plunge, wait for a few hours until after the workout.
00:12:32Who the fuck's doing a 10-minute cold plunge?
00:12:34No, one day when it's a Friday.
00:12:38I do three minutes and I'm done.
00:12:41So basically, hydrogen and methylene blue are two examples of selective antioxidants that
00:12:45can accept or donate an electron that would be acceptable for post-exercise inflammation
00:12:50without blunting the anabolic response.
00:12:53Somewhere along the way, low energy just gets accepted as a part of getting older.
00:12:57Turns out there's a reason for that.
00:12:59As we age, our mitochondria, the parts of our cells that power us, become weaker and make
00:13:02less energy, which is why I'm such a huge fan of Timeline.
00:13:05They've developed this that helps to clear out your damaged mitochondria so your cells can
00:13:10actually renew themselves.
00:13:11Timeline is backed by over a decade of research and has more than 50 patents and is the number
00:13:16one recommended mitochondrial supplement on the planet.
00:13:20This isn't just theory.
00:13:21In clinical trials, people saw mitochondrial renewal increased by more than 40% in just
00:13:2616 weeks, along with improvements in their overall energy.
00:13:28I've been using it for over two years since my doctor recommended it to me way before I
00:13:33partnered with Timeline.
00:13:33And eat your heart out, Martin Shkreli, because they've just dropped the price and it now starts
00:13:38at $99.
00:13:40Best of all, there is a 30-day money-back guarantee, plus free shipping in the US, plus they ship
00:13:44internationally.
00:13:44And right now, you can get that $99 price with an additional 20% off by going to the link
00:13:49in the description below or heading to timeline.com/modernwisdom using the code modernwisdom at checkout.
00:13:54That's timeline.com/modernwisdom, and modernwisdom at checkout.
00:13:58Thank you very much for tuning in.
00:14:00If you enjoyed that clip, you will love the full-length episode in all of its glory, right here.
