Vercel's v0 can draw gorgeous Next.js screens in the blink of an eye, but if you stop there, it is just a useless shell. The moment a user refreshes the page, the data they entered vanishes without a trace. To build a genuinely working service, you need a database to store that data.
Without hiring a developer and spending thousands of dollars, here is a step-by-step guide to tossing out v0's mock data and hooking up Supabase to complete a fully functioning backend all by yourself.
The code generated by v0 usually contains fake data in the form of const mockData = [...]. Figuring out the structure of this data is your very first step. You need to map the information displayed on the screen and the fields filled out by users directly into database tables.
To prevent data structures from getting tangled up and saving incorrect values, you must clearly define your data types. Even if you don't know SQL, you can design a table just by understanding these five rules:
